Good Wishes Quilt
To welcome and celebrate a new life, there is a tradition in the northern part of China to make a "Bai Jia Bei", or "100 Good Wishes Quilt". It is a custom to invite friends and family to contribute a patch of cloth with a wish for the baby. Part of the patch of cloth goes into the quilt for the baby and the other part of the cloth can go into a scrapbook with the wish for the child. The quilt contains the luck, energy and good wishes from all the families and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation.
We would like to ask you to help us celebrate the new life our child in this special way.
Will you help?
Hopefully, the quilt will then be ready to welcome him or her to their new home.
Please send us a 10"x10" square of fabric and an index card with your good wish for our baby.
When we receive all of our squares, we can make a quilt with all of the different fabrics and good wishes for our baby. Please take a moment to write your wishes for our baby on the index card and attach a small piece of the same fabric. We will put the cards in a scrapbook so that when the baby is older he/she can see, feel and read all the good wishes that were made for him/her.
We hope to hear from you soon.
