A stroll up Mt. Rigi.
August 15th was a public holiday in the canton of Zug, Switzerland and Wolfram, Erika, India and I decided to take a stroll up Mt. Rigi, the Queen of the Mountains. Since we live at the base of Mt. Rigi (1798m)this should be an easy stroll.
Our hike started at 10 am in the village named Weggis. The hike to the top and back lasted nearly 8 1/2 hours!
The weather was sunny, clear skies and cool. The views were stunning and the hike was excellent. On the way to the summit we strolled past pastures, woods and stopped at scenic viewpoints where you can see the Alps to the south and German Black Forest mountain range to the north. Throughout the hike we were surrounded with the background music of cow bells.
On the way down from Rigi we followed a historic trail followed by famous persons such as Queen Victoria, Mozart and Mark Twain. We passed the historic Felsentor Hotel which was a resting point for travellers before the introduction of the cog wheel train. The hotel is situated about midway between Mt. Rigi and Weggis and currently it is a restaurant and teaching center for Buddist meditation and learning.
Below is the slideshow of our hike. Remember ontrail the cows have the right away.

Well now those are some darn big bells on those cows! Great slide show, makes me wish I were there. Looks like you're having a wonderful time. Love your blog; it's the first I have ever visited, I swear! ...and so far, mi favorito!
