Moving In! Home?
No pictures today! Sorry. More to come soon. Monday is moving in day. I can't wait. We have been in a hotel "apartment". It's not bad, but who wants to be in a hotel? We have made every excuse to get out. It just isn't "home". I can't wait for my own bed and sheets! That is very interesting here. Most full/queen beds are actually two mattresses. And in hotels you are given separate bedding for the two sides of the bed. I also miss my couch. Not the fanciest or most modern... but soooo comfy! Even though the apartment in Arth is empty right now, it is ours. We have had the keys since Monday, but our furniture will not arrive until this coming Monday. I have been over a few times this week just to remind myself that I will have a home soon. The yard it very large by Swiss standards. I don't know how Rene found it really. It is very unusual to have a private yard with an apartment here. That is really the most appealing thing. It is also very close to the lake (maybe 200 meters?). That is lovely. It is a fairly modern apartment with granite floors and a well designed kitchen. The living room and kitchen area are open and probably will be my favorite place to be in the house. Another interesting tidbit, Swiss apartments are not equipped with lighting fixtures. You have to supply those yourself. People buy their fixtures and take them along when they move. I guess it makes sense that if you are likely to always live in apartments, you would want to take that investment along with you to the next apartment.
Uma and I rode bikes along the lake to Immensee the day before yesterday. It is a beautiful area with amazing homes ON the lake. We ate fresh cherries from a tree until we got sick. We saw a great spot for swimming. We planned to test the water yesterday, but it rained (es regnet) most of the day. We are going to try today. I will take the camera! It is sunny and warmer. The water is very cold (about 15 C), but it is not bad once you get used to it. xoxoxo
