Lilou... Where are you?
Well it is official! Today our adoption file goes back into "active" status. We have had it on "hold" since April. So... August 2nd will be one more day to celebrate in our future. Our appointment with Randy went well. He started on our Homestudy for us. He sent us to Frankfurt to have our fingerprints completed for the I-600A (petition to adopt and orphan). The people in the US Consulate there have been so much friendlier and more knowledgable than those at the US Embassy in Bern. We spent Monday in the City Center of Frankfurt and went to the Consulate first thing Tuesday morning. Ironically, the guard at the gate was incredibly rude and refused to let us in saying that "immigration has no public hours on Tuesday". Well, this was amazingly frustrating since we had called in advance and been asked to come on Tuesday between 7 and 11 a.m. by immigration! We were persistent and managed to get inside (though we had some slight delays - we took no cell phones... which we really needed as it turned out, but Rene had every other kind of electronic in his pack... duh!!!) Long story short... we have filed to renew our immigration paperwork, our file is once again active, and we will one day have a baby from China. If all goes smoothly, we could have a referral as early as October! Well, we have learned the hard way not to hold our breath. Anyway, wanted to share the news. Lilou is out there waiting for us too.
